Faith-Driven Education

Strengthening Family Partnerships

Inspiring Hope for the Future

Upholding Core Catholic Values Together

Based on my dedication to family, faith and Catholic education, I pledge to represent your voice in upholding these four core values:

Faith

I am committed to ensuring our students receive an education permeated by Gospel values. I will model my Catholic faith, advocate for policies that prioritize faith formation for every student, teacher, family and administrator.

Family

I recognize parents as the primary educators and will work to strengthen partnerships with families. I will set priorities, adopt budgets, and guide policies that provide every child with a supportive and welcoming educational environment.

Unity

I will build bridges between schools, families, staff, and the wider Catholic community. By acting as a communicator and leader, I will foster collaboration and create a shared vision that reflects our values and ensures each person is treated with dignity and respect.

Hope

I will inspire hope by managing resources wisely, planning for the future, and advocating for every student’s opportunity to thrive. My goal is to create policies that nurture students in faith, knowledge, and excellence, ensuring the gift of Catholic education remains a public priority.

ABOUT KIMBERLY

Advocating for the Future of Catholic Education

I am committed to being a voice of advocacy for Catholic education, upholding faith-based principles, and fostering a caring and supportive community within our schools.

I am deeply committed to ensuring that every decision in CCSD supports the mission to know, love and serve God. I am inspired to seek this role to help shape policies that reflect the hope of Christ Jesus, nurturing students, staff members, and administrators with His love. We are fortunate in Alberta to have Catholic education publicly available; this facilitates us in our primary mission.

My greatest joy is as a wife and mother of six, two of whom have now graduated from CCSD. I understand how vital the role of faith and prayer has been in my children’s lives, and I believe wholeheartedly in the primacy of parents as their first educators. I support all voices for Catholic education and intend to uphold the faith values that make our Catholic schools exceptional.

Educational Excellence

  • Master of Arts in Special Education – Our Lady of the Lake University
  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology – Texas A&M University
  • Certification in Child and Youth Care – Hull Child and Family Services
  • Continuing Education and Professional Development – St. Mary’s University Calgary

My background includes a Master’s degree in Special Education, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Certification in Child and Youth Care. Having started my career teaching children with diverse needs, working with foster children and coordinating an early intervention program, I have an in-depth understanding of the needs of our most vulnerable children.

I am committed to working hard to support all children’s needs, enabling them to reach their full potential.  To best meet the needs of each of our children, my husband and I enrolled our children in the setting most suitable to them, including CCSD schools, homeschooling, and private Catholic schools. Throughout their education, I have been a regular volunteer in the schools they attended. In addition, I worked as the GrACE district-level parent representative for CCSD (Grateful Advocate for Catholic Education) and as a founder of the St. Mary’s University Prayer Guild. I have been continually involved in my parish, currently supporting the children’s liturgy program and pastoral care ministries.

On a personal note, my husband and I have hosted a weekly formative couples faith group in our home for over 15 years.  This was the fruit of my conversion to Catholicism in 2008.

History

Our family’s history has been rooted in Ward 11 for over 50 years. My husband and I successfully managed a small business in the area for more than two decades. Through our roles in the schools, the church, and the community, we have been blessed to build strong relationships within the Catholic community.  These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the community’s needs and values, and I am eager to build on this foundation to serve the children, parents, and families of Ward 11/12 effectively and to be your advocate for Catholic education!

I am deeply grateful for the time, support, and encouragement you have given me and my family over the past three months. This campaign has been a challenging yet rewarding journey, allowing me to meet passionate advocates for Catholic education across Wards 11 and 12 while reconnecting with old friends.

Congratulations to all the candidates in this by-election—Steve, Laura, and Chantelle—your dedication to publicly funded Catholic education and its role in our broader community is truly inspiring.

My commitment to Catholic education remains strong. I will continue advocating for a school board that upholds faith, family, and unity in its policies. While I am still discerning how best to serve, know that I stand with you in ensuring Christ’s presence is reflected in our students, teachers, and administrators.

As we journey through 2025, the Jubilee Year of Hope, I remain hopeful—because we are blessed with the gift of Catholic education.

In Christ,

Kimberly Cichon
